The Synod began the day with a service of holy communion
celebrated in the assembly hall.
LEGISLATIVE BUSINESS
RECENT VIOLENCE IN NIGERIA (GS 1861)
The Bishop of Durham moved:
'That this Synod, gravely concerned at the desperate plight of
Christian communities in parts of Nigeria, as described in GS 1861,
request the British Government to do all it can to support those in
Nigeria seeking to protect religious minorities of all faiths and
enable them to practise their religion without fear.'
Following debate, the motion was carried in a count of the whole
Synod. There voted 344 for, 0 against, with 1 abstention.
