Statement by the Church of England's Chief Education Officer on the appointment of Rt Hon Justine Greening MP as Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities.
The Rev Nigel Genders, Chief Education Officer said today: "As Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening showed clearly she understands the power of education to transform lives for the good. We look forward to working with Justine and her colleagues to ensure that all our young people are given the opportunity to flourish academically, socially and spiritually within school communities that are free to focus on the whole child and not just their test results.
"The return of higher education and skills to the Department for Education will we hope result in coherent policies offering improved opportunities for training and higher education for all to reduce the inequalities the Prime Minister spoke of on her appointment."
